The First Award Announcement of Chen Jing-Run Prize
Chen Jing-Run is a famous number theorist in China. In a hard period, he proved that a sufficiently large even integer can be represented as the sum of a prime and a positive integer with at most two prime factors, which is a significant progress to Goldbach's conjecture. In the late 1970s and 1980s in China, Chen’s story, achievement and spirit aroused great enthusiasm in mathematics among the public and stimulated innumerable people to devote themselves to mathematics career.
In order to commemorate the contribution of Chen Jing-Run and develop his spirit of persisting and love in mathematics, the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Education Foundation set up the Chen Jing-Run Prize to reward and recognize outstanding research works in number theory and/or outstanding research works in algebra completed in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan by people under 40 years of age until December 31 of the award year. The biennial prize is given to no more than two research works each time.
On April 3, 2023, the recommendation work of the first Chen Jing-Run Award was officially launched. Referees who intend to recommend works in Number Theory and/or Algebra, please refer to the website of Chen Jing-Run Prize, and send the recommendation materials to the Secretariat of the Award Committee before June 30, 2023.
