The 48th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control was jointly held with the 28th Chinese Control Conference from December 16 to 18, 2009 in Shanghai, China.

Prof.  Guo Lei from AMSS and professor J.Baillieul from Boston University served as the general co-chairs of the conference.  Professor  Cheng Daizhan of AMSS and Professor F. Jabbari of University of California served as the co-chairs of the Program Committee. Professors  Li Shaoyuan and  Wang Xiaofan from Shanghai Jiaotong University served as the local organization co-chairs.

The IEEE-CDC is internationally recognized as one of the premier academic conferences in systems and control in the world. It is held annually but hosted outside US every four years. CCC is the top academic conference in control systems in China, which is held every year. In 2005, the IEEE CSS officially approved that IEEE-CDC would be held in China in 2009, which will be the third time that CDC has been held outside the United States in the Asia-Pacific region, and it is the first the IEEE Control Systems Society has chosen to hold its flagship conference in China.
