Recently Prof. Michael Steele -- the President of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) informed Prof. Yan Jiaan  of AMSS in an email that he had been elected as a Fellow of the IMS.

The ceremony for new fellows will be made at the73th IMS Annual Meeting in Gothenburg, Sweden, in August 2010. The IMS was founded in 1933, is an international professional and scholarly society devoted to the development, dissemination, and application of statistics and probability. The Institute currently has about 4,000 members in all parts of the world.
