Grand Meeting Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Prof. Feng Kang was held in AMSS on Sept. 9 -13, 2010. More than 300 scholars at home and abroad attended this event.Prof. Zhiming Chen, Director of Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific /Engineering Computing presided over the conference.
AMSS Vice-president Prof. Wang Yuefei made a speech and spoke highly of Prof. Feng Kang ’s contribution to Chinese computational mathematics.
AMSS President Prof.Guo Lei made an important speech and pointed out that Prof. Feng Kang ’s spirit would be the invaluable treasure which inspires us to endeavor for the development of scientific and engineering computing at the evening banquet.
Two workshops named “on Method and Theory for Scientific Computing” and “on Computational Mathematics and Scientific Computing” took place after the memorizing conference. Eighteen Feng Kang Prize Winners, Academicians Prof. Lin Qun and Prof. Cui Junzhi gave talks.
Prof. Feng Kang is the founder and pioneer of Chinese computational mathematics. He was a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, a professor and the founding director of the Computing Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was awarded many prizes, including First Prize of National Natural Science Award of China, Second Prize of National Technology Advances, and First Prize of Natural Science Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc.
The conference was hosted by Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific /Engineering Computing, AMSS and the State Key Laboratory of Scientific and Engineering Computing, sponsored by AMSS and Institute of Mathematics, AMSS.
