International symposium on stochastic analysis and its applications dedicated to the 70th birthday of Prof. YAN Jiaan was held on July 4 -6, 2011 at AMSS. About 200 scholars at home and abroad attended this event. Prof. GONG Fuzhou, the director of Institute of Applied Mathematics, AMSS presided over the opening ceremony of the symposium.
Prof. WANG Yuefei, Vice-president of AMSS made a speech first. He spoke highly of Prof. YAN Jiaan’s academic achievements and wished the symposium can facilitate wider exchange of dialogue and imminent cooperation for stochastic analysis and its applications. Besides, CAS Academician Prof. MA Zhiming and Prof. YE Xiangdong, Vice-President of University of Science and Technology of China made speeches, respectively.
Prof. YAN Jiaan is a renowned expert in probability theory and stochastic analysis. He has made groundbreaking contributions to the understanding of the martingale theory, white noise analysis, and financial mathematics and so on. He is currently the managing editor of Acta Mathematicae Applicatae Sinica and was elected as the Fellow of Institute of Mathematical Statistics in 2010. He was awarded many prizes, including CAS Natural Science Award (first class) in 1992, Second Prize of National Natural Science Award of China in 1993, Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Science and Technology Progress in 2006, HUA Loo-Keng Mathematical Prize in 2007, etc.
There were about 30 invited reports given by CAS Academicians Prof. MA Zhiming, Prof. CHEN Mufa, Prof. PENG Shige, etc, on a full spectrum of stochastic analysis and its applications including stochastic differential equation, stochastic partial differential equation, stochastic network, and stochastic control and so on.
The conference was co-hosted by the Institute of Applied Mathematics, AMSS, Key Lab of Random Complex Structures and Data Science, CAS and supported by Department of Mathematics, University of Science and Technology of China and Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS)-China.
