CAS Member Prof. YUAN Yaxiang has been elected as the Corresponding Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences recently.
Prof. YUAN Yaxiang is recognized for his contributions to nonlinear optimization, particularly on trust region methods, quasi-Newton methods and nonlinear conjugate gradient methods. He received many awards, including the second Prize of National Natural Science Award in 2006, the Shiing- Shen Chern Mathematics Award of Chinese Mathematical Society in 2011. He was elected as a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and a new CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) academician in 2011.He was awarded with the TWAS Prizes for 2014
