International Workshop on Modern Optimization and Applications (MOA) was held at AMSS on 27-29, June, 2016.

Topics of interest in MOA 2016 included optimization in networks, optimization in information sciences, and optimization in big data and so on.

The invited speakers included Prof. Sergiy Butenko from Texas A&M University, US, Prof. CHEN Xiaojun from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, HK, Prof. Tim Conrad from ZIB/Freie Universitat Berlin, Germany, Prof. HAN Deren from Nanjing Normal University, China, Prof. Thorsten Koch from ZIB/TU Berlin, Germany, Prof. LUO Zhi-Quan from University of Minnesota, US, Prof. MA Shiqian from Chinese University of Hong Kong, HK, Prof. Giacomo Nannicini from Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore Prof.Peng Jiming from University of Houston, US, Prof. YUAN Ya-xiang  from Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China and so on.

The goal of MOA 2016 was to bring together leading scientists, researchers, and practitioners from world to exchange and share ideas and approaches in using modern optimization techniques to model and solve real-world application problems from engineering, industry, and management. A prominent feature of MOA 2016 was the mixture of optimization theory, optimization methods, and practice of mathematical optimization.
