International Conference on Numerical Analysis, Approximation and Optimization was held at AMSS on 5-7, August, 2016. The conference chair was Prof. YUAN Yaxiang, from AMSS, CAS.
The conference highlighted recent advances in numerical analysis, approximation and optimization. The aim of the conference was to gather experts in numerical analysis, approximation and optimization to exchange ideas and to discuss future developments and trends of these fields. The invited speakers included Prof. Hermann Brunner from Hong Kong Baptist University, Prof. Martin Buhmann from University of Giessen, Germany, Prof. Andrew Conn from IBM Watson Center, USA, Prof. Ioannis Demetriou from University of Athens, Greece, Prof. David Gay from AMPL Optimization, USA, Prof. Arieh Iserles from Cambridge University, UK, Prof. Jorge Moré from Argonne National Laboratory, USA, Prof. Marc Teboulle from Tel Aviv University, Israel, Prof. Philippe Toint from the University of Namur, Belgium.
The conference was also held in memory of late Professor M.J.D. Powell, who made outstanding contributions to numerical analysis, approximation and optimization.
