Prof. Konstantin Shramov, gave a lecture titled “Finite groups of birational selfmaps of surfaces” at AMSS on 10, October 2018.
In the report, he talked about finite groups acting by birational automorphisms of surfaces. In particular, they considered surfaces over function fields. One of important observations here was that a smooth geometrically rational surface S was either birational to a product of a projective line and a conic (so that S was rational provided that it had a point), or finite subgroups of its birational automorphism group were bounded. He also discussed some particular types of surfaces with interesting automorphism groups, including Severi-Brauer surfaces.
