The First Workshop on Mathematical Theory in Artificial Intelligence Held at AMSS

The First Workshop on Mathematical Theory in Artificial Intelligence was held at the Academy of Mathematics and System Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences during December 15-16, 2019. This workshop was organized by Hua Hua Loo-Keng Center for Mathematical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and co-organized by State Key Laboratory of Scientific and Engineering Computing, Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific/Engineering Computing, Youth Innovation Promotion Association of Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS AMSS-PolyU Joint Laboratory of Applied Mathematics, National Science Foundation of China, and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

23 researchers gave excellent talks focusing on various topics related to artificial intelligence. Various mathematical fields including optimization, probability and statistics, functional analysis, numerical approximation were highly involved in these talks. The speakers were  from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beihang University, Hunan First Normal University, Dalian University of Technology, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Taiyuan University of Technology, Renmin University of China, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, Huawei, Tencent, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, Alibaba, University of California, Los Angeles, Xian Jiaotong University, ConocoPhillips, National University of Defense Technology, Nanjing University, East China Normal University, including the winners of outstanding youth award from the NSFC such as Prof. Deren Han, Prof. Yanfei Wang and Prof. Jinhu Lv and the Sloan Research Award and Morning Start Applied Mathematics Award winner Prof. Wotao Yin. The participants had extensive discussions and communications during the breaks of this conference.
