Abstract:
We introduce an application of the theory of complex dynamical system to the statistical mechanics. We study the phase transition of the Potts model on diamond-like hierarchical lattices. It is proved that the set of the complex phase transition points is the Julia set of a family of renormalization transformations. Based on some results on the dynamics of this family of renormalization transformations, we deal with the free energy and the critical exponent on Fatou sets and Julia sets.
