Abstract:
This presentation summarizes the research of the speaker on representations of p-adic reductive groups, guided by the local Langlands correspondence and the functoriality principle. In his past and current ongoing research, we study the explicit descriptions of the local Langlands correspondence for general linear groups and for classical groups via endoscopy theory, an important case of functoriality. We can also study cuspidal representations from a number theoretic perspective, in terms of a novel ultrametric on the set of cuspidal representations defined by the speaker with his collaborators. Finally, in his future proposal, we study the components of parabolically induced representations from a categorical perspective, via the geometry of perverse sheaves and graded Hecke algebras.
