Abstract: The local null controllability of the Burgers equation has been extensively studied under various control settings by several authors. In this talk, I will discuss local null controllability using internal controls depending only on time, for the Burger equation posed on a bounded interval with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. In particular, I will present a recent result, obtained jointly with Minh Nguyen Tran, showing that the system is not locally null controllable even in finite time. Our approach is inspired by previous works of Coron, Koenig, and Nguyen in the context of KdV equations. The analysis also relies on new estimates for solutions of the heat equation with low-regularity data.
