Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss some basic examples of the relation between supersymmetric field theories and generalized cohomology from the perspective of the Stolz-Teichner program. We will see how 0|1-dimensional supersymmetric field theories are related to differential forms, how 1|1-dimensional theories are related to K-theory, and why one expects a relation between 2|1-dimensional field theories and topological modular forms. I will then turn to relative field theories and anomalies, and discuss their relation to bundle gerbes and twisted K-theory.
