Prof. Zhao Yanlong Elected as President-Elect of Asian Control Association

On June 18, 2026, during the Asian Control Conference held in Indonesia, the Steering Committee meeting of the Asian Control Association (ACA, http://acacontrol.org) took place. Prof. Zhao Yanlong from the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (AMSS, CAS) was elected as the next President-Elect of the association, with a presidential term from 2029 to 2030.

The ACA is an academic organization that promotes research, development, and application of control science and technology within Asia and Oceania, while strengthening communication and cooperation among control scholars and engineers in the region. Its predecessor was the Asian Control Professors Association (ACPA), founded in 1996. The association's main activities include organizing the Asian Control Conference (ASCC) every two years, developing individual or group memberships, establishing platforms for scientific research and educational collaboration, encouraging related industries to participate in the association's activities, publishing a series of textbooks related to control, and fostering good relationships with other relevant groups in the region.

Prof.Zhao Yanlong earned his bachelor's degree from the School of Mathematics and Systems Science at Shandong University in 2002 and his Ph.D. from AMSS, CAS in 2007. His research focuses on quantitative system identification and adaptive control, network communication, financial system modeling, and systems biology, among others. He has published over 100 academic papers in influential journals or conferences in the field. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor responsible for the control area of the SCI journal Journal of Systems Science and Complexity and is an editorial board member of top international journals in systems control, such as IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, and SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization. He previously served as Vice President of the Asian Control Association and currently holds positions as Vice Chairman and Fellow of the Chinese Association of Automation, as well as Director of the Control Theory Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation.
