  •   About AMSS 
      Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences (AMSS) is a top research center of mathematics and systems science in China, dedicated to the highest level research in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and applications of mathematics. Currently, AMSS has 270 faculty members, including 15 CAS Academicians, 1 CAE Academician, and 48 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.        AMSS invites young scholars working in all areas of mathematics to apply for National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars (Overseas) through AMSS.  
        
      Requirement for Applicants from NSFC 
       (1) Abide by the laws of the People’s Republic of China and have good scientific ethics. 
       (2) Born on or after January 1, 1984. 
       (3) Have a PhD degree in mathematics or related areas. 
       (4) Have more than 36 months’ working experience at oversea universities or academic research institutions before April 15, 2024. For those who have obtained a PhD degree overseas and have outstanding research records, the limitation of work experience can be relaxed. 
       (5) Have strong research record and the potential of becoming an academic leader. 
       (6) The applicant should have not yet returned to China on a full-time working basis, or returned to China after January 1, 2023. If the fund is approved, the recipient need to work at AMSS full-time for at least 3 years.

      CEFS at CAS is a prestigious interdisciplinary research institute specializing in economics, finance, management science, statistics and data science.   •   Part I: Introduction
      The Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) is a non-profit,non-governmental international organization founded in 2018. Founding members include 37 scientific institutions, universities, and international organizations worldwide. ANSO aims to improve regional and global capacity in science and technology, human livelihoods and wellbeing, and to promote broader S&T cooperation and communication.
      The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents (hereinafter referred to as the ANSO Scholarship) was formally launched in 2019 with the goal of training and cultivating young scientists from all over the world. The ANSO Scholarship supports 200 Master's students and 300 PhD students every year to pursue postgraduate education at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) or institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) around China.
      This year, a sub-category of the ANSO Scholarship: the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship will be officially launched. Echoing the priority of TWAS/UNESCO, special (not exclusive) consideration will be given to two target groups: Least Development Countries (LDCs) and women. Up to 40 PhD students from developing countries will be selected by TWAS/UNESCO into this category every year.
      Part II: Coverage and duration
       
      [NOTE]
      1. For ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship awardees, the above item 1 to item 4 will be covered by CAS; item 5 and item 6 will be covered by TWAS/UNESCO. For other ANSO Scholarship awardees, all the items above will be covered by CAS.
      2. The reimbursement/allowance standards and procedure for item 5 and item 6 should comply with the rules of the sponsor.
      3. Any scholarship awardee on site in China, the host country, at the time of application will NOT be eligible for any travel subsidy.
      Awardees are required to finish centralized training in Chinese language, Chinese culture and all required credits as well as practical research and completion of degree thesis at colleges and schools of UCAS or CAS institutes.
      Any master's awardee who fails annual assessments will face the consequences including:
      · Termination of his/her scholarship;
      · Discontinuity of his/her master's study;
      · Being provided with a certificate of attendance for the period of study undertaken in China but not a formal master's degree.
      Any PhD awardee who fails the qualification test or annual assessment will face the consequences including:
      · Termination of his/her scholarship;
      · Discontinuity of his/her doctoral study;
      · Being provided with a certificate of attendance for the period of study undertaken in China but not a formal doctoral degree.
      Part III: Eligibility
      Eligible applicants must:
      · Eligible applicants should NOT hold Chinese citizenship,with a valid passport, friendly to China and abiding by the laws and decrees of China, and UCAS rules and regulations.
      · Eligible applicants should be proficient in English or Chinese;
      · For Master's program applicants: you should be born after 1st January 1993 (inclusive);
       For PhD program applicants: you should be born after 1st January 1988-- (inclusive);
      · Meet the admission criteria for UCAS international students (please refer to the calls for 2023 Programs for international students) Eligible applicants should NOT take up other assignments during the period of his/her scholarship.
      · If you are currently pursuing a master's degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the master's program of this scholarship. If you are currently pursuing a doctoral degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the PhD program of this scholarship. Otherwise, you will be disqualified from admission and the situation will be reported to your current university/institution.
      · Not take up other assignments during the period of his/her scholarship.

      PhD students would be exempted from a tuition fee of RMB 40,000/year.
      Master students would be exempted from a tuition fee of RMB 30,000/year.

      3. Monthly stipend
      PhD awardees will receive a monthly stipend of RMB 6,000 or RMB 7,000 depending on whether he/she has passed the qualification test arranged, of which RMB 1,000 is provided by the CAS Institute.
      Master awardees will receive a monthly stipend of RMB 3,000 (of which RMB 1,000 is provided by the CAS Institute) and also a monthly accommodation subsidy of RMB 1,000 provided by UCAS.
      4. Travel subsidy
      A certain amount of travel subsidy from their home countries to China will be provided to the awardees in order to begin the scholarship in China. Any scholarship awardee on site in China, the host country, at the time of application will NOT be eligible for any travel subsidy.
      5. Medical Insurance;

      UCAS, formerly named Graduate School of CAS, was the first graduate school in China. In 2014, UCAS started enrolling undergraduate students, and since then an intact higher educational system has been established. Being the largest graduate education institution in China, UCAS has over 50,000 ongoing students, and more than half of them are doctoral students. With strong support from CAS institutes all over China, UCAS espouses the philosophy of "The Fusion of Scientific Research and Teaching" as its basic system of education. The disciplines represented at UCAS include all fields of science and 90% engineering. According to the Global University Ranking by Essential Science Indicator (ESI) in September 2019, UCAS ranked No. 1 in China and No. 82 worldwide. As a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), UCAS has established close ties with over 100 world-renowned universities. Based on CAS overseas institutions, UCAS is building overseas joint centers for education and research to promote capacity building on B&R. UCAS is responsible for the enrollment and management of the master’s and doctoral candidates of the ANSO Scholarship Program admitted by UCAS.
