As one of the first knowledge innovational bases of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS) has run for ten years. A period of ten years is just a twinkling in the long history of mankind, but for AMSS, it is an unforgettable duration of struggling with ambition, of reform and innovation, and of carrying on the past heritage and opening up the future. The past decade has witnessed a comprehensive and rapid progress of AMSS with a brand-new look full of vitality.
AMSS is integrated with four mathematics related institutes of CAS, and builds upon the fertile academic ground exploited and cultivated by a number of well-known Chinese mathematicians including Hua Loo-keng, Wu Wentsun, Kwan Chao-Chih and Feng Kang et al. For over the half century since the establishment of Institute of Mathematics in 1952, scholars of several generations have made indelible contributions to the development of science and technology in China.
Now, looking back to the past and look forward to the future, we endeavor to make greater contributions in the fields of mathematics and systems science with their applications to natural, engineering and economic systems, and to devote ourselves to nurture new talents. We will continue to promote collaborations and communications with colleagues all over the world, and your comments and suggestions on the development of AMSS will be very much appreciated.
